- Collection from MTH at 9:30 then head to Crymych
- Walk is 11 miles approx 5.5hrs with stops not included
- Walk will finish at Bluestone Brewery
Walking the Golden Road is a stirring experience. This gently undulating route takes you
along the Preseli ridge, across wild moorland and is said to date back to the Neolithic
period, 5,000 years ago, linking ancient monuments and burial places, cairns and rocky
tors. The views are breathtaking, and all along the way there are prehistoric remains to be
seen.
We begin our walk in Crymych, our first climb is to the outcrop at the top of Foel Drygarn,
you are rewarded with a 360 degree view of the county and beyond. You can see why
there was an Iron Age hillfort here. Within the fort are a trio of cairns that are older than the
fort and give the hill its name which means ‘three cairns hill’.
We continue on to the jagged form of Carn Menyn – like that of all the Preseli tors – is the
result of many thousands of years of erosion by harsh weather on the dolerite or bluestone
rock. Traditionally thought, it was the source of the stone used to build the inner ring of
Stonehenge. As we walk to Carn Bica we can explore an arrangement of stones known as
Beddarthur, an eye-shaped ring of stones said to be the last resting place of King Arthur.
At Foel Feddau we can look at the stone cairns that date from the Bronze Age and mark
burials, presumably of someone who was once a local VIP. We skirt the Pantmaenog
Forest to Foel Eryr, which has a burial cairn at its summit.
From here we take the path down through the Gwaun valley and complete our walk at
Bluestone Brewery. You will be collected and dropped back at MTH.

Day 3 - Full Day Guided Walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path
- Collection from MTH at 9:30 then head to Fordd Bedd Morris
- Walk is 10 miles approx 5hrs with stops not included
- Walk will finish at The Sailors Safety
We begin our walk from Fordd Bedd Morris and make our way along the common to reach
Carningli Mountain. One of the most striking hills in Pembrokeshire, rocky Carningli is a
brooding presence over the town of Newport. Carningli translates as the Mountain of
Angels and has been associated with the local Celtic St Brynach. Legend has it Brynach
communed with angels, possibly at the top of Carningli.
Listen out for the song of skylarks
as you enjoy the spectacular view over Newport and on a clear day as far as Snowdonia.
From the summit we make our way down crossing the common in a different direction,
heading for the coastline. We pass 4 beaches on the walk, Aber Rhigian the first followed
by Aber Fforest. As we make our way along these beautiful sheltered coves and beaches
we come to Cwm Y Eglwys. A sandy cove, with a stream running through the middle of the
beach. This is a great spot if we have anyone in the group that fancies a dip!
Next we walk Dinas Head, this has a steep ascent and descent but is definitely worth the
extra push as it offers spectacular coastal scenery and wildlife.
We complete the walk in Pwllgwaleod at The Sailors Safety. You will be collected and
dropped back at MTH.
